5 Powerful Ingredients That Help Stop Pimples and Acne Breakouts

Pimples on face

Learn about these powerful ingredients that your skin will thank you for!

We all understand how annoying pimples can be—particularly when they arrive out of nowhere and stick around longer than necessary. Whether you have the occasional pimple or ongoing acne, the good news is that your skin can find its calm again!

At Esthetics by Medicontur, we're about selecting the right ingredients—delicate enough yet strong enough to fight pimples on the face without damaging your skin. If you want to create a routine that works with your skin (not against it), here are five ingredients we genuinely endorse, and so should you!

1. Salicylic Acid – The Deep Cleanser

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that penetrates deep into your pores to remove excess oil, dead skin cells, and dirt—the very things that create pimples in the first place. It's particularly wonderful for blackheads and whiteheads. If your skin is sensitive, try lower strengths (such as 0.5% to 1%) and follow up with a moisturizing moisturizer.

Product Recommendation: Skin Tech® Purigel is a lab-tested gel that is advised for use on acne/ oily skin types.

2. Niacinamide – The Balancer

This soothing ingredient is a true multitasker. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) balances sebum, calms redness, and fortifies the skin barrier. It pairs incredibly with other actives and is ideal for acne-prone or sensitive skin. Excellent if you want something that aids healing and prevents future acne.

3. Azelaic Acid – The Soothing Hero

Azelaic acid is gentle, serene, and strong. It softly exfoliates but also battles bacteria that cause acne. We adore how it not only fades the marks left by acne but also smooths your complexion over time. It's also good for rosacea- or inflamed skin, so it's a thoughtful and respectful option for problem skin.

4. Zinc – The Oil Controller

Zinc is one of those stealthy but powerful ingredients that keeps your oil levels under control and quiets inflammation. Whether it's in your Purigel or a soothing serum, it plays well in acne-fighting regimens. Zinc also heals, making it a great partner for skin that's healing from breakouts.

Product Recommendation: P2G Micellar Water for daily use contains hyaluronic acid, panthenol and extract of calendula. Regular application of Micellar Water enhances skin’s luminosity, smoothing, firmness and it is ideal for sensitive and reactive skin.

5. Centella Asiatica – The Skin Whisperer

Also called Cica, this plant-based product is a skin calmer from head to toe. It minimizes redness, maximizes moisture, and aids in repairing your skin barrier—especially useful if you've been applying more aggressive actives like Purigel and your skin is crying out for relief. A small amount of Centella can make a big difference in treating your skin with the TLC it needs.

Purigel

Skin Tech® Purigel is a lab-tested gel that is advised for use on acne/ oily skin types. It can be used on both female and male skin. The formulation actively works to purge the debris that unites the skin's texture, particularly in the T-zone area.

Melablock HSP SPF 50

Melablock-HSP® SPF 50 provides a 4 in 1 sun protection(sunscreen + erythema protection + anti-oxidants + HSP activation). Peel2Glow Brightening & Filling Peel

After your acne has cleared (we're rooting for you!), it's time to address any lingering scars or uneven tone. That's where our Peel2Glow Brightening & Filling Peel comes into action. It's formulated to enhance texture, minimize scarring, and leave your skin with a radiant glow.

One thing to remember: it is not for everyday use. It is a highly concentrated peeling, so use cautiously—2 to 3 times a week or only when needed, depending on what your skin type is and how your skin reacts after first use.

Your Gentle Routine, Guided by Experts

If you’re already using our recommended routine—Cleanser, Purigel, and Melablock 50—you’re off to a great start! After 3–4 weeks, once your skin has settled, consider switching to Purifying (our upcoming addition!) for continued care.

And if Purigel seems a little too intense on some days? No problem. Add a layer of hydration using our Night Intensive Repair Serum or Ultra V Cream. And when the acne breakout is gone, Peel2Glow Brightening & Filling Peel can deal with any remaining scars—use it with care, as it's not a daily product.
